Lesson 07: How Strongholds are Established
Lecturer: Chaifa Berry
Based on Chapter 6 of the Strategies of War book by Apostle Colette Toach
I used to think it silly when people said that a "spirit of bitterness" attacked them. That is because a lot of times, people do not want to take ownership of their sin. They would rather blame it on a spirit than admit that they may be the problem. I know this, because I have been there!
The truth though, is that actually... there is a little bit of truth to the "spirit of bitterness." There are strongholds built in your life and if you do not uproot it and displace it, satan will continue to use the strongholds of bitterness, fear and guilt to tempt you.
Now that doesn't mean that you no longer have to look at your sin and that you can just blame it on a demon. It doesn't work that way. No, you cannot even begin to do this kind of warfare, until you have dealt with the sin in your own heart first.
Once you have done that, it is time to dig deep. It is going to be a wrestling here. You've spent your entire life establishing this stronghold. Every time you reacted in sin, you gave it a deeper foundation.
So don't be afraid to get your hands dirty and to wrestle a little. In the next couple of lessons, you are going to learn how to do just that.
In today's lesson, you will learn how to recognize what these attacks feel like. Then when you have those same pictures and those same emotions stir up, you can stop and say,
"Oh no you don't. I am not falling for this. I bind that thought, I bind these circumstances right now. I believe what God says and I am uprooting this foundation right now!"
Every time you choose God and you choose a different pattern, you are laying a new pattern - a righteous pattern that will soon replace the old. The new pattern will make you susceptible for success and blessing and not curses.
So let's begin by seeing how satan has been tempting you, shall we?
