Lesson 05: Overcoming the Fear of Man
Lecturer: Apostle Colette Toach
Based on Chapter 03 of Practical Prophetic Ministry by Apostle Colette Toach
If the Lord has called the prophet to deliver His word, then why do you struggle with the fear of man so much? Well there is quite a lesson in this! When you stand up and finally deliver what God has given you, you receive the ultimate revelation of all. That revelation is:
Only by the GRACE of God!
The more I walk this road as both a prophet and an apostle I come to learn this lesson more and more. Haven't you noticed that the more you learn about something, the less you really know about it? Well with the prophetic walk it goes a bit like this: The more you walk, the less you are!
You come to realize that if it were not for God's grace you would not even be able to receive a single vision or even have a desire to serve Him.
By realizing that it is by His grace that you are even called, you can finally overcome your fear of man. You see, the Lord does not expect you to just get rid of it. He does not expect you to get bold suddenly. The only way that you will rise up is by spending time receiving from Jesus in the secret place. Then by standing in your weakness and in His strength.
A student said to me once, "I am so nervous when I get up to speak or to preach. I wish I was like you. You stand up with such boldness. I want to be like that one day." I had to burst her bubble! I let her know that not a single time went by when I was not nervous in some way when I stood up to speak. What? The "big" apostle? Yes, it is true.
In fact if I stand up to minister and I am NOT afraid then it is time for me to take a good look at myself. The reason is, that I stand up to minister by the grace of God. I know that if He does not empower me, that I am nothing. That if He does not anoint me, that I am just an empty vessel.
So I want you to realize that you will always be nervous! Yet even in your nervousness, look at the people and pour out with a heart of love. Suddenly the fear will leave and it will be replaced by the anointing and the tender loving care of Jesus.
Do you need to overcome the fear of man? Well, on the one hand you never will! Yet on the other, only your love for Jesus and His people will give you what you need to stand up, even in the face of opposition and to say, "Thus saith the Lord..."
